About Wollaton

This area of Nottingham is a popular tourist attraction as it is home to a historic Elizabethan country house, Wollaton Hall. Built in the 1580’s, it sits on a small but prominent hill in Wollaton Park and overlooks the park. The Hall is now the Natural History Museum and was used as Bruce Wayne’s Manor in the 2012 film, The Dark Knight Rises.

Wollaton Park is also the venue for the popular music festival, Splendour, which takes place every year in the summer and has featured artists such as Jess Glynne, Jake Bugg, Calvin Harris and The Pet Shop Boys.

The centre of Wollaton, Wollaton Village, has remained largely unchanged in the past few hundred years and is home to the Admiral Rodney public house and the Anglican church of St Leonard which date back to the 13th century. The area also features historic cottages, a water pump and an Elizabethan dovecote.
